Bolt-on bar anode
Anodes sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the protected metals. They must be cleaned and replaced regularly. Warning: once worn beyond 60%, they no longer retain their protective capacity. In sea water, either a zinc alloy anode or an aluminium alloy anode must be used. At equal output, an aluminium anode weighs three times less than a zinc anode, has a higher electronegative potential and pollutes less. Perfectly suited to protecting aluminium hulls. For navigation exclusively in fresh water, a magnesium anode should be preferred.
