Mastervolt Mac Plus DC/DC charger
Increase the charging voltage of your service battery! Charging service batteries on board a boat or a vehicle can prove to be a real challenge. The operation can take a long time and the batteries may not reach full charge. This is a common problem on boats, utility vehicles, motorhomes and trucks. Smart alternators and stop-start systems make the situation even more complicated. A rugged DC-DC charger that ensures the best charging conditions for your service battery Typically, a service battery is linked to the starter battery via a charging relay. The starter battery is located near the alternator and receives the most charging current, while the service battery is generally further away. Cable lengths cause voltage drops that slow down charging, which leads to weaknesses in the system and premature battery failure. Modern, energy-efficient engines are fitted with smart alternators in accordance with regulations such as Euro 5 and Euro 6. Instead of delivering a constant current, smart alternators supply a variable voltage. After a brief charging period, the voltage is reduced and charging stops. In addition, the energy produced by regenerative braking leads to voltage peaks. Service batteries connected in the conventional way would receive hardly any charging current and would be damaged by the voltage peaks. To solve these problems, Mastervolt presents the Mac Plus DC-DC chargers, available in 12 and 24 V. The Mac Plus units monitor the service battery and compensate for voltage losses. The proven efficiency of the 3-stage algorithm guarantees fast, safe charging. Moreover, by stabilising the charging voltage, the Mac Plus protects the service battery and sensitive equipment. Features Safe, fast charging on short journeys. Fanless for silent operation. Suitable for Gel, AGM and Li-Ion batteries (including LiFePO4). Charges even completely flat batteries. Running engine detection protects the starter battery. Adjustable current limits in compliance with Euro 5/6 requirements. Optimal voltage stabilisation protects sensitive equipment, lights and consumers. Parallel operation to obtain charging capacities above 100 A. MasterBus for intelligent monitoring and automation systems. Temperature compensation and voltage sensing for the best charging results. E-mark certification for mobile applications. Power supply mode. Hardened connections for easy installation and quick configuration via DIP switches. The non-isolated Mac (Plus) and DC Master models are characterised by an electrical connection between input and output. Features: Low cost. Efficiency: produces little heat. Compact. Suitable for installations with negative earth. Applications Boosting the charging voltage when the service battery is far from the charging source or in an installation that includes a smart alternator. When a stable power supply or a different voltage is required. Euro 5/6 solution Charging service batteries for Euro 5/6 applications? The Mac Plus supplies a constant current to the service battery, even when the alternator is not active. Parallel operation Configuring several units in parallel will provide you with more than 100 amps. Advanced high-frequency switching technology with modern microprocessors ensures minimum power loss when switching from 24 to 12 V and vice versa Solid connections Galvanised brass terminal block with screw terminal or chrome-plated clamp for DC input/output on the Mac/Magic models. The solid M8 terminals of the Mac Plus prevent the play caused by vibration.
