SY / MY models SY models with synchronous alternators feed the electrical network directly; the frequency is determined by the engine's rotation speed. They are larger than PMG alternators for the same output. They can handle fairly high transient currents. MY generators fitted with PMG alternators (Permanent magnets alternator) are combined with AC/AC converters that deliver a pure sine wave voltage at a fixed frequency. These models are more compact and lighter.
