SY / MY models SY models with synchronous alternators supply the electrical network directly, the frequency being determined by the engine's rotation speed; they are larger than PMG alternators for the same power output. They can handle fairly high transient currents. MY generators fitted with PMG alternators (Permanent magnets alternator) are combined with AC/AC converters that deliver a pure sine wave fixed-frequency voltage. These models are more compact and lighter.
